Introduction of the college

College of Chemical and Materials Engineering (CCME) at Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering(ZHKU) , originally known as the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was established in 2004.And it was renamed in August 2025. CCME currently comprises 4 academic Departments: Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Process, Polymer Materials and Engineering, and Materials Chemistry.

The college has 66 faculty and staff, including 11 professors, 19 associate professors (including senior laboratory teachers). Among our faculty members, there are 4 Zhongkai Young Scholars, and  1 provincial-level outstanding young talent. In the past 5 years, CCME has undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects, of which 7 were hosted by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 53 provincial and ministerial projects including the Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects; 166 SCI/ EI-indexed papers were published; 60+ invention patents were granted; and 10 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards were received. and its student entrepreneurship team won gold and silver medals in the China International College Students' Innovation Contest in 2023 and 2021 respectively.

There are more than 856 full-time undergraduates and 65 master students in the College. The college collaborates with institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen Tsinghua University Research Institute, and City University of Hong Kong, establishing 6 joint graduate training bases in Guangdong Province and 2 industry colleges with renowned enterprises.
